Professional Truck Drivers. 
Class 5. Contract Drivers supplying relief driving services.

We invite applications to fill the roles of Self-employed Contract Drivers in both North and South Islands.

We are experiencing strong demand from transport operators in Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin, for a new class of professional relief drivers who are able to demonstrate absolute dedication and a strong desire to excel  in their chosen career.

If you can show that you have provable practical skills, varied and provable trailer experience, are conscientious, and have that desire to forge a career outside of the traditional mould, while still earning top money in an appreciated environment  then we'd like to hear from you.

We operate a drug and alcohol free workplace, and all staff are tested pre-engagement and randomly during their engagement.

Training:
We engage all Contract Drivers on training plans to ensure efficiency and safety in the workplace. We don't want to teach you how to suck eggs, but we do want to have your skills formally recognised within the NZQA unit standard framework and to see you gaining New Zealand National Certificate qualification of your abilities.

Key role:
As a Contract Driver you'll be responsible for handling a range of assignments for our clients, generally handling loads on Class 5 rigs - both Metro and LIne-haul. The assignments can be anything from a couple of days to a couple of months.
The emphasis of every assignment will be a focus on the needs of our client and their client, legal compliance on all levels, efficient handling of loads and equipment, safety in the workplace, and management of all associated procedures and business.

Ideally, you will be:
Licenced to Class 5, "DG" endorsed, "W" endorsed, "F" endorsed with current OSH Forklift Operator's Certificate.
Your licence and your lifestyle will both be clean, you'll have a good reputation and you'll be well presented.
You must be a New Zealand resident with the right to own and operate a business.

The sort of things that we are really keen on:

  • Excellent - and provable - Driving Skills on New Zealand Roads including some good solid years of trailer work.

  • Excellent knowledge of Road Code and Truck Loading Code with ability to reference publications.

  • An excellent attitude to the job, the gear and most of all the customers you will interface with.

  • A good reputation with verifiable references.

  • Clean licence and clean criminal history.

  • Adequate technical ability to operate Truck/engine Management Systems, Dispatch Systems, GPS,

  • You must have internet access to web and email in order to handle your training, assignment and job management tools.

  • Good and provable machine empathy with Road Ranger and Fuel-efficient driving skills.

We will arrange:

  • An Advanced Driving Practical assessment. This may be conducted in a car or a truck, and will include assessment to and beyond general unit standards.
    The assessment has been designed to determine your road-craft and general road and traffic-handling skills.  

  • A Drug and Alcohol Test, to be performed by New Zealand Drug Detection Agency. We will also require pre-test disclosure of all drug and alcohol consumption in recent times.

 If we are then satisfied of your suitability,

  • We will offer you a contract, and

  • Will assist you with establishing your business.

  • We will then arrange induction training and unit standard assessments on Processes, Health and Safety management, Fatigue management, Worktime and Logbook management.

  • We’ll also develop an ongoing training and development program. We like to see our people progressing towards the formal qualification of New Zealand National Certificates.

  • All training and assessment will be conducted at levels to include unit standards.

  • We’ll also organise a subsidised uniform and equipment package, including operation manuals.

 You will then be able to begin accepting assignments as a Contract Driver.
